Summer 2021
Summer and heat greeted us early on this year and now, while we email back and forth writing this, Marion is sitting in front of a burning wood stove at Hill House while Trudy is reminded of the summer the Dagoba was built and Rinpoche’s admonishments about being prepared for the world going to hell in a handbasket! Climate change and pandemics - now a global day to day reality. And yet the beat goes on. We saw a large Zoom gathering with the board at the end of May that demonstrated community support along with the board's intention of transparency and communication. Ontarians are getting vaccinated and Covid-19 numbers are going and staying down. A full program at the DCC will start at the end of this month despite all the change and challenges. What heartwarming resilience!
In this issue we take one more cosmic look at the 70s and enter into the 80s with two different yet similar views, one from Karen Russell and the other from Brian McLeod. DCC views and news include articles from Mala Sikka, Christine Wihak and a Q&A with Tracy Sheridan showing various perspectives on DCC activities whilst Marta Castiglioni brings us the latest news on what’s going on with the Chorten restoration this summer. We’ve also included a review of a spring in lockdown with many positive testimonials from people who benefitted from DCC-sponsored Zoom retreats and an exciting forecast of what is yet to come.
