The DCC is improving its physical and virtual campus to make it more accessible and user friendly. We invite you to participate in making these ideas become a reality. More information can be found below by clicking the links for our main projects.
As the construction season begins at the Dharma Centre, the Board and Renewal Committee are ready to make more improvements to the property. We are moving forward on several needed projects and we ask for your support.
The Board has budgeted $45,000 to remedy the water and moisture problems at the Temple. Once this fundamental work is completed, we can begin major work to improve the Temple.
It will take about $42,000 to put a roof on Tara cabin to prevent further water damage. We also plan to repair the roof that was done incorrectly at Hill House. That will cost over $10,000. Other needed investments include working with Voltage electrical and the hydro company to replace the pole and transformer at Tara cabin (cost $8,000) and replacement of the failing electrical switchgear at the Hermitage (cost $28,000).
The Board also plans replacement of steps at the Bath-house, Chenrezi Cabin and Hill House, and making the Bath House accessible.
We invite you to be part of these projects by making a donation here: Donate — The Dharma Centre of Canada
If you have not been to the Centre for a while – enroll in a retreat, take a personal retreat or drop by, a surprising amount of good work has been done.
In addition to maintaining and restoring buildings and infrastructure at the Centre, the Board and Renewal committee are working on a transformation of the Temple. The world renowned architect Thomas Payne visited the Centre and called it a national treasure. This letter has images from among his suggestions on how to transform the main jewel in that treasure.
Together we can take such a step. The Dharma Centre community through participation in programs and retreats and through the generosity of many people, has more prosperity than it did a few years ago. That enables us to commit to much-needed projects mentioned above.
To realize that vision of a transformed Temple will take several hundred thousand dollars. The fund raising committee is seeking grants and each one of us can play a part. Your donations small or large add up to make a big difference.
Can you join us in supporting our next step forward? Members are making timed pledges for the start of construction this month and next, for mid-season donations and for wrap up and interior work in late fall and winter: Donate — The Dharma Centre of Canada

On behalf of the Dharma Centre Renewal Committee, I would like to express gratitude to members of our community who have worked on the building projects.
Maria Burns has shown capable leadership to prepare for major work on the Temple: she sought and analyzed input from structural and mechanical engineers and the renowned architect Thomas Payne. Maria and her husband Andrew made many trips to the Dharma Centre and looked under the floor and at the walls to get a sense of where the water was coming from. She invited three contractors to take a look and, based on all the inspections and studies, we finally have a plan to remedy the long-standing water and moisture problems. The plan will be implemented this year.
Robin Keogh gave time, attention and energy to resolving a variety of issues including work at Main House, Hill House, road improvement and the installation at Hermitage of the Pine Cabin generously donated by Len Robson. Robin worked tirelessly on many other projects as well.
Rob McConnell, Karen Russell and Roy Brown put thought and effort into the condition, problems and remedial plans for repairs and improvements of Tara Cabin.
Matt Wright, has been very supportive as a member of the Fund Raising Committee and Renewal Committee.
The Program Committee, Marketing Committee and the Teachers have all shifted our circumstances by having excellent, beneficial, well-attended retreats and workshops.
Amber Pennington-McCallum, other Board members, NooN, Dorje, and Matthew, worked through the teahouse emergency to ensure water was removed as quickly as possible.
All the members of the current and previous Boards, the DCC Renewal Committee and very importantly, all of you, the members and participants of the Dharma Centre Community, each made a difference through your participation and generous gifts.
Thank you, one and all!
