THE DHARMA CENTRE HAS MULTIPLE WAYS FOR YOU TO VOLUNTEER.

Become a ‘Server - Meditator’ for the duration of a Retreat.

Being a Server-Meditator offers individuals boundless opportunities to develop the first Parami: generosity, the foundation of the spiritual life.

A Quick Overview of the Server-Meditator Program:

  • Work four or six hours a day during a retreat alongside our Property or Kitchen staff in exchange for housing and access to the retreat environment.

  • Server-Meditators can attend courses/retreats without paying a registration fee. Your work supports  the retreat and offsets the fee.

  • It is beneficial to offer Dana for the teachings received while being Server-Meditator.

  • When not engaged in the work of service, time is available to attend classes and focus on your Dharma practice.

How Much Does being a Server-Meditator Cost?

In exchange for your work of 4-6 hours a day, you receive accommodation and nutritious meals at the Dharma Centre.

  • Week 1 & 2 – ( 4 hours per day, free accommodations and $25 per day for food)

  • Week 3 – ( max 6 hours per day, free accommodations and food)

  • Approval - submit form and interviewed by HR Committee

Short Term Volunteer Opportunities

We welcome volunteers who wish to contribute their time to the Dharma Centre without participating in any retreats (1 to 4 days, subject to space availability).

If you are interested, please email the Dharma Centre with your request.

Free Accommodations Provided

Our Day Guest Volunteering Program (DGV) is designed for individuals with some meditation experience who wish to deepen their practice while also practicing generosity (Dana) by offering their time and energy to help maintain the Centre.

At the beginning of each season, there are many tasks to be done both inside and around the Dharma Centre. If you’d like to visit and volunteer, we would love to hear from you. The following are some of the tasks where your help would be greatly appreciated:

  • Landscaping

  • Gardening

  • Trail clearing

  • Painting and decorating

  • Cleaning

  • Small maintenance projects and repairs

We are always in need of help throughout the year to care for our land. To apply for the Day Guest Volunteering Program, please complete the application form and send it to the Retreat Administrator at: retreats@dharmacentre.org.
