An 8 Day Online Retreat with Mala and Terry
Saturday, May 8 - Saturday, May 15

'Love and Compassion are necessities, not luxuries. without them, humanity can not survive.' H.H. Dalai Lama

KINDNESS is like snow, it beautifies everything it touches ...

The Four sublime abodes / the Four Immeasurables -  loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity, are the Buddha’s expression of boundless love. They are the backbone of all mindfulness meditation and give us the skill and means to quickly lighten the shadows which often veil our natural ability to be compassionate. Without these pillars of Dharma, our mindfulness practice can become dry, lacking the nectar of the path which is the essence of love.

This retreat will start with the traditional meditations on the 'Four Immeasurables’ granting confidence to apply these teachings directly in our daily interactions with others.

As a natural blossoming and application of the ‘Four Immeasurables' we will share the ancient practice of Avalokiteshvara/Chenrezig a manifestation of selfless and unconditional compassion. The six syllables of om ma ni pad me hum, the mantra of  Avalokiteshvara, have the power to clear obstacles that often cloud our ‘basic goodness’, transforming the 6 emotions of  greed, anger, ignorance, jealousy, pride and desire.  Practicing with visualisation and this mantra to transform these negative qualities, we will cultivate the basis for compassion and wisdom and the true motivation to benefit all.

Schedule:

Daily classes will be at 10.00 am / 3.00 pm / 7.30 pm

Please note There maybe one short movement and meditation class before breakfast depending on the differing time zones of participants joining.

What is Dana?: Teachers give the teachings of awakening (Dharma) freely so that anyone, no matter their financial means can attend classes. Each time one receives teachings, it is an opportunity to consciously practice generosity. Giving money and other means of support expresses gratitude and support to the teacher and helps to ensure that these teachings continue. Each person receiving Dharma teachings determines the kind and amount of Dāna according to one’s heart and one’s financial means. When deciding how much to offer, one should think about what these teachings mean to you and try to give accordingly. It is recommended that students make an offering of dāna at the beginning of a class or retreat to establish the intention to make the most of this opportunity for one’s own progression and for the benefit of all others.

Dana for Mala & Terry can be made by e-transfer to malasterryh@gmail.com  (please write DANA or GIFT on the e-transfer).

Registration deadline for this retreat is on Friday, May 7th at 10am. The zoom link for the first class will be forwarded to registered participants at that time.

If you are only able to participate for part of the teachings please make a note of this on your registration form.
