Star Group for Peace
April 29th - May 1st Online with Karen Russell
Star group meditation is a beautiful, powerful and non-sectarian practice from the Western Mysteries traditions. It was often taught by Namgyal Rinpoche as a tool to focus and direct the meditative energy of a group toward aims such as healing or peace.
Right now, in the spring of 2022, meditation for world peace is urgently needed. Karen Russell, a long-time friend of the Dharma Centre and current board member, with an aspiration to alleviate suffering throughout the planet has envisioned a Worldwide Star Group for Peace. This planetary offering includes those who will be practicing at the DCC and will be supporting star groups around the country and the world who will join the practice from offsite. Please join us in person or from wherever you are!
The Star Group at the Dharma Centre of Canada will sit several times from Friday evening through to Sunday morning. There will be an orientation class on Friday evening and activities to support the focus of peace throughout the weekend. If the skies are clear at night, we will do some astronomy and observing with telescopes.
Once signed up for the weekend you will be given links to the Star Group Retreat for Peace site on the Sutra platform.

Groups and individuals participating remotely:
We want to encourage existing star groups to join us the weekend of April 29-May 1. We will link together online using a platform called Sutra. Here you'll find a General Discussion forum where you can communicate with the group at the Dharma Centre and offsite. You can talk about when you'll be practising and where and perhaps specifically your group’s wish for peace or motivation to join. What is the Sutra platform? (https://sutra.co/)
Sutra is a platform for convening groups online. In our case we have two private groups. One for the Star Group teaching and one for the Star Group event itself. The motivation for this is that many people have requested that private groups be hosted on software other than Facebook.
