The Art of Letting Go - A Journey to Self-Compassion with Felicity Banister

  • Dharma Centre of Canada 1267 Galway Road Kinmount Canada (map)

We are all subject to difficult emotions. Whether it’s what life brings us, dealing with difficult people, or confronting our negative habits and knee-jerk reactions, managing these emotions can be hard. We need to open up to these feelings in order to let them go. Letting go is not intuitive, we need to know how. Training in mindfulness gives us the tools to successfully release the negative, and instead, foster positivity, happiness and a feeling of well-being.

This weekend will help you:

  • Become more self-aware

  • Make a gap between stimulus and response

  • Release negative thoughts and emotions

  • Pay attention to the wisdom of the body

  • Cultivate and foster positive emotions

As we surrender what no longer serves us, it put us on a path of self-compassion by helping us recognize our own innate goodness, which is key to all health and well-being.

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it” – Rumi

What is Dana? Teachers give the teachings of awakening (Dharma) freely so that anyone, no matter their financial means can attend classes. Each time one receives teachings, it is an opportunity to consciously practice generosity. Giving money and other means of support expresses gratitude and support to the teacher and helps to ensure that these teachings continue. Each person receiving Dharma teachings determines the kind and amount of Dāna according to one’s heart and one’s financial means. When deciding how much to offer, one should think about what these teachings mean to you and try to give accordingly. It is recommended that students make an offering of dāna at the beginning of a class or retreat to establish the intention to make the most of this opportunity for one’s own progression and for the benefit of all others.
